Former Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly said he offered to stand next to White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and scold reporters who got “out of line” on her behalf.
In what appeared to be an epic piece of mansplaining, the former anchor used his first ever meeting with Huckabee Sanders to offer to carry out a press secretary-cum-bodyguard role to defend her from awkward questions.
"I said, 'Ms. Sanders with all due respect, if you ever need me to stand next to you in those press briefings, I will volunteer to do that,” O’Reilly told Huckabee Sanders at a party held on Sunday night for German Ambassador Richard Grinnell, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Recalling the conversation on his show on Monday, O’Reilly said he’d told Sanders he would stand by her “ And, if somebody gets out of line, I will tell them exactly what I think of their behaviour,” explaining it was and “honest offer” that prompted Huckabee Sanders to laugh in response.
