MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow told “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert that she expected Republicans will “do the right thing” when it comes to President Trump.
“I think that people, when confronted with real issues of national interest, will do the right thing,” Maddow said.
Maddow and Colbert had a lengthy conversation on Monday night’s episode about the various scandals surrounding Trump’s presidency, with ties to Russia being among the items they appear to be the most passionate about.
“He can’t go on trial for obstruction of justice but he could be put on an impeachment trial by the House and the Senate,” Colbert said. “But do you think there is any chance that would happen if the Democrats do not get back the House and the Senate?”
Maddow said she tries “not see it in partisan terms” and she feels that Republicans in the House and Senate will rise to the occasion and do the right thing, if the evidence of Russian ties becomes clear.
