Kathy Griffin Calls Out Fellow Comics for Not Trashing Trump

Notorious Trump critic Kathy Griffin called out fellow comedian Kevin Hart, among others, for not criticizing President Trump.

Nobody tells Kathy Griffin what she can or cannot talk about in her comedy routine. Even more so since she’s become something of a First Amendment activistin the wake of her bloody Trump head stunt. Too bad she doesn’t think Kevin Hartdeserves the same freedom of speech. In an interview, Kathy called Kevin a “pussy” for not doing Donald Trump jokes “because he’s a black man”. Oh Kathy, Kathy, Kathy.

According to USA Today, Kathy’s out doing press for her new 23-show Laugh Your Head Off tour (personally I think the Off With Their Heads tour would have been the bolder choice). Kathy’s routine is mostly about the fallout from her Trump stunt, which she now says she’s not sorry about after all. And why should she be? It’s garnered her more press than any Kardashian bit ever could. In her act, Kathy’s expressed goal is “to make you cringe-laugh with jabs at the Trump administration, its policies and the first family”. Good for you Kathy, that’s your life now, we get it. But What About Kevin?

“I do feel like this is such an anxiety-ridden time for everyone that there is a thirst for all kinds of comedy,” Griffin says. “And look, if you want to not hear about Trump at all, go see Kevin Hart. He doesn’t even mention Trump. I personally think that’s a pussy move because he’s a black man. But I guess he’s selling more tickets than I ever will.”

Well, she’s right about one thing, Kevin does sell a lot more tickets than she does. But he still has to follow the golden rule of comedy which is: When the HCoC (High Commander of Comedy, usually a white man, but in some very rare instances like this, a white woman) gives you a CM (Content Mandate), you must abide. I hope Kevin doesn’t get too rattled by this new CM issued by Kathy. It’s probably going to be difficult for him to rewrite his entire act. Going from “Look at me, I’m short as hell!” jokes to biting political satire, is going to be a stretch for Kevin. But rules are rules.
