Man Who Defaced Trump Star on Walk of Fame Gets Puny Punishment

The man accused of vandalizing President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will not serve jail time as part of a plea bargain.

On Tuesday, James Otis reached a plea deal after he pled no contest to charges of vandalism for smashing Trump’s star, according to TMZ. He was placed on three years probation and was ordered to pay the cost of repairing the damaged star and replacing parts of it.

The area, which includes the walk, is maintained by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. As part of the plea bargain, Otis agreed to pay the group and the Hollywood Historic Trust $4,400, most likely the cost to repair and replace the star.

He must also do twenty days of work for Caltrans, which usually involves picking up trash along the freeways.
