Meryl Streep Brought Up Donald Trump in Her Golden Globes Speech—See What She Said
Meryl Streep called on the press to hold Donald Trump accountable during his presidency.

While accepting the Cecil B. DeMille at the Golden Globe Awards Sunday night, the actress said the president-elect “broke her heart” when he mocked Serge Kovaleski, the reporter who has a congenital joint condition.

“All of us in this room really belong to most vilified segment in American society,” Streep began. “Think about it — Hollywood, foreigners and the press. But who are we and who is Hollywood anyways?”

Streep then named actors who were born and raised in different countries.

“Where are their birth certificates? Ryan Gosling, like all the nicest people, is Canadian. And Dev Patel was born in Kenya, raised in London and is here playing an Indian. Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if we kick them all out we’ll have nothing to watch but football.”
