Rod Stewart has apologized for a video posted to his wife Penny Lancaster’s Instagram account Thursday that has been “misinterpreted” for an ISIS-style beheading re-enactment.

Sir Rod Stewart and his wife were in Abu Dhabi for one of his concerts and spent part of the day on the sand dunes of a nearby desert with some friends. Lancaster posted a video of the group having some fun on the dunes in which Rod and another friend could be seen acting out a beheading.

The video has been removed from Lancaster’s Instagram, and the 72-year-old singer has apologized in a statement and explained what was going on in the bizarre footage, The Sun reports.

“From re-enacting the Beatles’ Abbey Road crossing to spontaneously playing out ‘Game Of Thrones,’ we were simply larking about pre-show,” Stewart said in the statement. “Understandably, this has been misinterpreted and I send my deepest apologies to those who have been offended.”
