Rosie O’Donnell’s Tribute to ‘Roseanne’ Includes a Trump Insult, Of Course

Roseanne Barr’s triumphant return to the top of the network television ratings has propelled the Trump-supporting actress to another noteworthy accomplishment — a spot on Time magazine’s yearly list of the world’s 100 Most Influential People.

Writing her tribute for Time was none other than Rosie O’Donnell, who couldn’t be more opposite when it comes to supporting President Trump. And yes, it was a topic readers knew the uber-liberal O’Donnell wouldn’t be able to avoid when writing about her friend.

After an introduction highlighting Barr’s 1985 Tonight Show debut, where the author and “millions of others watched this domestic goddess slay a live audience in Burbank,” as well as the decade-long success of Roseanne, O’Donnell writes that Barr is “using her art to address relevant social issues, just as she has always done.” And then she addressed the elephant in the room:

“There has been much said about her love of the current President. Although I don’t understand it in any way, I love her still. I have seen the indefensible tweets from her macadamia-nut farm—and I forgive her,” O’Donnell wrote, jokingly referring to a Hawaiian nut farm Barr owns.
