If Kevin “Mr. Wonderful” O’Leary becomes Canada’s next prime minister, he promises there will be a “‘Shark Tank’ vs. ‘The Apprentice’ slam down” with the United States.
“I don’t think Justin Trudeau can actually negotiate with [Donald] Trump, I can,” O’Leary told Page Six on Thursday about launching his bid for public office.
Canada practices the British parliamentary system and O’Leary’s first hurdle will be landing the Conservative party leadership position May 27. If he wins, he’ll turn his sights to the national election in late 2019.
“When Justin Trudeau was elected a couple of years ago, I shared the optimism many had and the new vision,” the 62-year-old entrepreneur said. “And I’ve been watching what’s been happening … I’m very concerned because all of a sudden Canada’s economy is grinding to a halt … The straw that broke the camel’s back was last week. Trudeau put out some data about his vision for the country. For the next 38 years, we’re going run a deficit ending in a $1.5 trillion deficit that my kids are going to inherit. There’s not a chance in hell I’m going to let him do that.”
