Liberal actress and comedian Sarah Silverman had an experience falling in love with supporters of President Donald Trump while traveling the country to work on her television series.
Silverman’s satirical “I Love You, America” on Hulu shows Silverman traveling throughout the U.S. to discuss political views with a large array of Americans. Silverman, a supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) (and later Hillary Clinton) during the 2016 election, told New York Magazine on Tuesday that she had a “great time” with Trump supporters and ended up feeling comfortable with them.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Silverman said she felt a human camaraderie with her fellow Americans, despite opposing political views.
“When you’re one-on-one with someone who doesn’t agree with you, or whose ideology is different than yours, when you’re face to face, your porcupine needles go down,” Silverman explained. “The surprise was … I fell in love with them. I had a great time with them and I felt comfortable.
