Tim Allen: 'Nothing is More Dangerous than a Likable Conservative'

Comedian and actor Tim Allen hasn’t fully committed to a theory regarding the abrupt cancellation of his hit ABC show, “Last Man Standing” — in which he portrayed a conservative family man character — but on Wednesday, he offered a vague reference to the relationship between entertainment and politics.

Speaking with Norm Macdonald on “Norm MacDonald Live,” Allen had some choice thoughts to reveal about conservatism and how the concept is received in modern times.

Allen told MacDonald that he had hopes to push boundaries through his conservative character and discussed his former character’s relevancy in today’s political climate.

“I always wanted ‘Last Man Standing’ to be like Archie Bunker,” Allen said. “Archie Bunker pushed boundaries. Carroll O’Connor was not that guy at all. I’m a version of that guy, but … I said there’s nothing more dangerous to me, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative. That was the most dangerous thing.”

He added, “I think there’s nothing more dangerous right now than a likable conservative character.”
