Trump’s Energy Secretary Just Got Duped By Russian Pranksters

Energy Secretary Rick Perry reportedly took part in a 22-minute phone call with a Russian prankster who he thought was the prime minister of Ukraine.

Perry was under the impression he was talking to the Ukrainian prime minister about a new fuel made out of manure but instead had been speaking to two men who call themselves “The Jerky Boys of Russia,” according to Bloomberg. The pranksters, Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stolyarov, discussed cyberhacking, President Trump’s exit from the Paris Accord, and a new technology that would make fuel by combining alcohol and manure. They also asked for a good deal on coal exports.

“Negotiation is always possible,” Perry responded. A spokesperson for the Energy Department confirmed that the call did take place.

“These individuals are known for pranking high-level officials and celebrities,” the spokesperson said.
