White House Claps Back at Actor’s Assassination Joke

Johnny Depp found himself in some hot, kraken-infested water on Thursday night after joking about assassinating Donald Trump. In case you missed the kerfuffle over the past few hours, it was at Glastonbury where he asked the crowd to “bring Trump here?”

Then when they booed, he said, “You misunderstand completely. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

Eesh! He even knew he was going to get in trouble, saying afterward “this is going to be in the press and it’ll be horrible.” Well, it isn’t good, Johnny.

Now the White House has released their official response:

“President Trump has condemned violence in all forms and it’s sad that others like Johnny Depp have not followed his lead. I hope that some of Mr. Depp’s colleagues will speak out against this type of rhetoric as strongly as they would if his comments were directed to a Democrat elected official.”
