Whoopi Goldberg Says You Can Be Both ‘For Life’ and ‘Pro-Choice’

“View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg insisted she could be both “for life” and”pro-choice” when it comes to abortions. On Thursday, things got heated during a panel discussion on “The View” about Friday’s March for Life in Washington, D.C. with most of the hosts agreeing that they could be both pro-life and pro-choice with one exception, Sunny Hostin, who was adamant that her religion made her pro-life, period.

“I’m for life,” Goldberg said. The she turned to the audience and asked “Is anyone here not for life? Maybe we should stop talking about being pro-life or anti-life because nobody is not for life. We are pro-choice. That’s the difference.”

“We are discussing this March for Life and it’s been going on since 1974, but pro-life is not a dirty word,” Hostin responded to Goldberg. “Being pro-life is not a dirty word and you can’t define for me what pro-life is just like I can’t define for you what feminism is.”

“Listen, you don’t ever have to have an abortion,” Goldberg snapped back. “That’s the joy. What I am saying is I am also pro-life and I don’t like having people define the fact that I think having a choice is a good thing. It doesn’t make me less of a pro-life person.”
