Ex-NFL Player Claims Russian Mafia Is After Him After Shooting Woman At His Office

Ex-NFL player Justin Bannan is now facing attempted murder charges after shooting a woman at his office and then telling police that he believes the Russian mafia is after him.

The story is truly bizarre as it also involves a rolled up $20 bill with cocaine residue on it as well as Bannan’s claim that he was being ‘tracked’ by his cell phone. As The Daily Mail reports:

Authorities say Bannan shot a 36-year-old woman in the arm with a handgun at Black Lab Sports, a venture capital firm in Boulder, Colorado that he co-founded. She was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries…

A police spokeswoman told reporters the shooting appeared to be ‘random,’ and the victim said she had no relationship with the shooter. Bannan and the woman apparently worked in the same building…

The 40-year-old Bannan was arrested at the scene carrying a bag containing two loaded handguns and an extra magazine. Police also found a manila envelope containing a rolled up $20 bill that was later found to have cocaine residue, according to The Denver Channel…

‘Bannan told police he did not mean to shoot the woman, and that he was hiding because the Russian Mafia was after him and tracking his cellphone,’ according to the Boulder Daily Camera.
