Despite her announcing no plans to run for office, the media can’t stop asking Oprah Winfrey about a life in politics.
“In that political structure — all the non-truths, the bulls–t, the crap, the nastiness, the backhanded backroom stuff that goes on — I feel like I could not exist,” Winfrey, 64, told British Vogue in their August issue.
Winfrey’s Golden Globes speech, inspired by the Time’s Up movement, sent shockwaves through Hollywood. Her rousing comments led many to believe she was prepping for a career in politics. But as the months unfolded, she put those rumors to bed, even saying she’ll run for commander-in-chief only if God tells her to.
“I would not be able to do it,” Winfrey reiterated to the fashion magazine. “It’s not a clean business. It would kill me.”
