Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday said that President Donald Trump’s recent comments on the NFL player protests are beginning to make him “nervous.”
Trump on Wednesday commented on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s statement in which Goodell said that he and the NFL both believe that “everyone should stand for the national anthem.” About Goodell’s statement, Trump said, “It is about time.”
“It is about time that Roger Goodell of the NFL is finally demanding that all players STAND for our great National Anthem,” Trump tweeted. “RESPECT OUR COUNTRY.”
Limbaugh said that he believed the president’s motives to be “pure” but added that he’s not comfortable with the leader of the free world telling its citizens how they should behave.
“There’s a part of this story that’s starting to make me nervous, and it’s this: I am very uncomfortable with the president of the United States being able to dictate the behavior and power of anybody,” Limbaugh said. “That’s not where this should be coming from.”
