The Reason This Liberal Pop Singer Won’t Fly the American Flag at Her Concerts Anymore

She’s performed witchcraft against President Donald Trump and now pop singer Lana Del Rey has pledged to remove the stars and stripes from her concerts because of the commander in chief.

In a recent interview with Pitchfork, the Grammy-nominated recording artist announced she will remove American flag imagery from her shows due to her disapproval of Trump’s policies and behavior. Del Rey’s comments came after writer Alex Frank asked if it’s “harder to be romantic about America when Trump is the nation’s biggest celebrity.”

Frank’s question was rooted in the fact that, since her ascension in 2011, the “Summertime Sadness” singer’s style has become synonymous with Americana elements and nostalgic decor from the 1950s and ’60s. In the past, Old Glory has been a staple of Del Rey’s style. But it appears her affair with the American flag may be ending, at least as long as Trump is in the White House.

“It’s certainly uncomfortable. I definitely changed my visuals on my tour videos,” Del Ray said. “I’m not going to have the American flag waving while I’m singing ‘Born to Die.’ It’s not going to happen.
