What Melania Wore For State Dinner Honoring Australian Prime Minister

Via Mona Salama:

First Lady Melania Trump alongside her husband, President Donald Trump held its second state dinner on Friday night in honor of the visit of Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his wife Jenny. The black-tie dinner with tables in green and gold decorations took place under the stars in the Rose Garden that included over dozen of Trump administration, Congress members, guest of the Australian Embassy, military families and celebrity guests.

For the second big diplomatic get together, Melania donned a light green silk chiffon pleated gown by J. Mendel. The long sleeve floor length gown features a ruffled front and pleated skirt, an A-line silhouette and a crew neckline. It retailed for $5,990 and was on sale for $1,497 at Bergdorf Goodman, but is currently sold out after the First Lady was seen wearing this piece from the 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection.

Melania matched the gown with a pair of patent leather turquoise pumps by Christian Louboutin. The Pigalle Follies retails for $695 and is available online at Christian Louboutin.

President Trump and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison toasted the heritage of their respective nations as Trump praised Melania for her hard work in planning the dinner.

“Melania and I are immensely honored to host you and the entire Australian delegation for a State Dinner in the historic Rose Garden,” President Trump said at the State dinner. “I want to thank America’s magnificent First Lady for this truly exquisite evening. Thank you very much to Melania. She worked hard. Thank you. Great job.”

The White House said Melania “carefully selected” the colors, decor and menu for the dinner to reflect the continuation of one of America’s “most important and enduring relationships.”

The table linens featured ombré shades of yellows and greens and the centerpieces consisted of golden wattles and more than 2,500 California roses in shades of yellow.

The tables, illuminated with gold oil lamps, also had golden Champagne grapes to highlight both countries’ rich wine industries.
