CW star Stephen Amell was removed from a flight for screaming at his wife Cassandra Jean Amell when they were flying out of Austin, Texas.
The couple was on their way to Los Angeles to attend the ATX Television Festival when the 40-year-old actor was repeatedly warned to calm down by flight attendants while appearing to be drunkenly shouting at his 35-year-old wife.
Amell allegedly would not back down and was escorted off the plane by three flight attendants and the air marshall prior to departure. His wife of nine years and their traveling companions remained on the flight.
“Delta flight 966 on June 21 took a brief, eight-minute departure delay after an unruly customer was deplaned from the aircraft prior to departure in Austin,” a spokesperson for Delta Airlines confirmed. “The flight arrived ahead of schedule at Los Angeles International Airport.”
Amell addressed the embarrassing event in a Twitter statement on Wednesday, but denied being “forcibly removed” from the flight.
“My wife and I got into an argument Monday afternoon on a Delta flight from Austin to LA. I was asked to lower my voice and I did,” he explained. “Approximately 10 minutes later I was asked to leave the flight. And I did so immediately. I was not forcibly removed.”
He was able to make the television festival by getting on another flight later in the day. “I rebooked myself on a Southwest flight 2 hours later and traveled home without any further issue,” he concluded. “I let my emotions get the better of me, end of story. Must be a slow news cycle.”
