All The Celebrities Who Want To Abolish The Police

Several Celebrities have signed an open letter with the aim of defunding and abolishing the police. This should come as no shock as several in Hollywood decided to push bail money out to rioters and looters. Meet the Celebrities who are looking to defund and Abolish the Police:

Natalie Portman

Super Star Actress Natalie Portman was among those that signed the letter to defund the police. She also took the time to share the words of activist James Baldwin on progress for her Instagram audience.  

Common

The Rapper Common signed the letter and shared images from protests on his social media accounts. Common would also go on social media to encourage his followers to vote. 

The Weeknd

Singer-Songwriter The Weeknd signed the letter encouraging the defunding of police departments. The Weekend went above and beyond in donating $500,000 to various activist groups. 

Lizzo

Singer Lizzo signed a letter demanding the government to decrease the budget of the police in response to the death of George Floyd. Lizzo took to Instagram where she shared several links to donate to bailout funds and organizations that are working to defund police departments. 

John Legend

Singer-Songwriter John Legend signed an open letter asking for reform in policing and general defunding of the Police Departments across the country. This comes shortly after Legend has donated money to bail out rioters and looters. On top of these things, he is also donating money to the Balck Lives Matter movement. 

Yara Shahidi 

Actress Yara Shahidi signed the letter asking for local governments to defund police departments. Shadidi also posted a graphic out here Instagram suggesting that the money instead goes to schools and the homeless. 

Megan Rapinoe

US Soccer Star Megan Rapinoe signed an open letter to defend the police and urged her followers to do the same. 

Taraji P. Henson

Actress Taraji P. Henson signed the letter urging governments to defund the police and took to her Instagram to share footage of peaceful protests going on in some parts of the country. She also took the time to encourage her followers to vote. 

Brie Larson

Actress Brie Larson signed a petition to defund the police. Larson also used her social media following to mobilize against the LAPD specifically. 

America Ferrera

American Ferrera has joined the movement to defund the police and promoted it on her social media. She took the time to share how she felt about the Los Angeles Police Department budget. 

Jane Fonda

Activist and actress Jane Fonda signed the letter and promoted a petition asking for the same thing. In a post to her blog, she interviewed a New Jersey resident about the subject.
