Nick Cordero, 41, an award-nominated actor has died due to coronavirus complications.
His wife, Amanda Kloots, announced Mr. Cordero’s passing on Instagram:
God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.
I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday.
According to Kloots post, Cordero was battling coronavirus for 95 days. Cordero spent over 90 days in the hospital.
According to People:
Kloots revealed on March 31 that her husband was in intensive care and “having a hard time breathing” after being diagnosed with pneumonia. Days later, the fitness trainer revealed that her husband was in “stable” condition, but that doctors were still confirming the cause of his health crisis. “Two negative COVID tests. Doctors are convinced though that it is COVID so they did a third test,” she wrote, adding that her husband was responding “well to the medication for COVID.”
Although Cordero fell ill in early March, his symptoms were initially intermittent and didn’t seem to align with those frequently associated with COVID-19. “He could not get out of bed, so tired, no energy, that was really his only symptom,” she told BuzzFeed News at the time.
Cordero was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his 2014 work on Bullets Over Broadway where he played the role of Cheech. He was also nominated for Drama Desk Awards two times.
Cordero’s career was picking up steam on the big screen. In 2019, he had roles in two feature films Inside Game and Mob Town.
