Liberal actress Bette Midler caught plenty of flack for posting a political cartoon likening the 1921 Tulsa race massacre to the 2021 Capitol riot along with the caption, “White rage has always gotten a free pass.”
“Disgusting,” one replier wrote. “You are trivializing the Tulsa tragedy & using it as a political prop. You demean those who suffered in that tragedy. The only homicide on Jan 6th (by dc med examiner) was an unarmed female vet killed by a capitol police officer. You use her death as a prop too. Vile.”
“So everyone actually being arrested and investigated for what happened on Jan. 6th is just a free pass?” another user questioned. “How does that line up with all the protesters in Portland getting released without prosecution no matter how many times they try to burn down a building with people in it.”

Ridiculous Praise
Comedian Kathy Griffin, who once posed with a severed paper mache head of Donald Trump, tweeted support for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after she blamed the former president for her Puerto Rican grandmother’s illness.
AOC tweeted, “Just over a week ago, my [grandmother] fell ill. I went to Puerto Rico to see her- my 1st time in a year+ bc of COVID. This is her home. Hurricane María relief hasn’t arrived. Trump blocked relief $ for PR. People are being forced to flee ancestral homes, & developers are taking them.”
Griffin replied, “Thank you for doing a great job. You represent Americans better than we represent ourselves.”
But pundit Glenn Greenwald had the last laugh when he called out Griffin in the tweet below:

Candice Owens and Matt Walsh took digs directly at Ocasio-Cortez for her post. “I would never allow my grandfather to live in squalor and then post it on the internet to score political points,” Owens wrote. “You rake in corrupt millions. Stop being disgusting and get your grandmother a better home.”
“Shameful that you live in luxury while allowing your own grandmother to suffer in these squalid conditions,” Walsh added.
Star-Spangled Bill
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban ordered his team to stop playing the national anthem prior to games back in February. Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick called the decision “a slap in the face to every American & an embarrassment to Texas. Sell the franchise & some Texas Patriots will buy it. We ARE the land of free & the home of the brave.”
Patrick made it a priority to get the “Star-Spangled Banner Protection Act,” which requires the anthem to be played at pro sports games unless teams want to lose state funding, to Texas Legislature. The bill passed last week and is waiting to be signed by Gov. Greg Abbott.
Equity Agenda
Popstar Taylor Swift used the beginning of gay “Pride Month” to push President Biden’s equity act. “I want to take a moment to thank the courageous activists, advocates and allies for their dedication to fighting against discrimination and hatred,” she announced. “And as always, today I’m sending my respect and love to those bravely living out their truth, even when the world we live in still makes that so hard to do.”
“Who you love and how you identify shouldn’t put you in danger, leave you vulnerable and hold you back in life,” she continued. “I proudly join GLAAD in their #summerofequality and add my voice to those who support the Equality Act,” she added. “Happy Pride Month!”
Memorial Day Diss
Country Star Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany took a swipe at Vice President Kamala Harris for sending a May 29 tweet that said, “Enjoy the long weekend,” but failed to mention military personnel.
“Our family doesn’t take Memorial Day lightly, it’s more than a ‘long weekend.’ [Jason Aldean] and I both come from military families and understand the importance our loved ones and others have sacrificed for us, and our freedom,” Aldean wrote on Instagram. “We fly our flag high… EVERY SINGLE DAY. It’s the least we can do to show our appreciation.”

Drag Singalong
Nickelodeon’s animated show “Blue’s Clues,” which is aimed at preschool-aged children featured “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Nina West, who led a singalong teaching kids about LBTQA+ families.
“This family has two mommies, they love each other so proudly, and they all go marching in the big parade!” West croons as the cartoon depicts trans, non-binary, and gay families as different animals.
