Social media users are calling to boycott Sears and Kmart over a shirt being sold on their respective marketplaces that depict deceased January 6th Capital rioter Ashli Babbitt as an “American Patriot.”
“Holy Not Okay, @sears & @kmart,” wrote Hill Reporter Tara Dublin. “I know you cater to the lowest common denominators, but this is abhorrent. Can anyone try to be better, or have we all given up as a society? JFC.”
“Welp, no Sears, and Kmart for me. Ashli Babbitt was a traitor. Deluded, perhaps. Naive, sure. Stupid, hard to argue. But she stormed the U.S. Capitol, menacing U.S. congresspeople, destroying property, challenging democracy and the rule of law.” WaPo columnist Gene Weingarten added.
Babbitt was a 35-year-old Air Force veteran who was shot in the shoulder by a Capitol Police officer as she was attempting to climb through a shattered window on a barricaded door on January 6. She later died from the wound.
The Justice Department investigated her death and declined to charge the officer who fatally shot her, who claimed he “didn’t have a choice,” to do anything other than discharge his weapon.
The t-shirt features a distressed American flag with Babbitt’s name on top and “American Patriot” below it. Reporter Aaron Rupar tweeted about the shirt, which has been sold on Kmart and Sears’ marketplaces since January by a third-party merchandiser. The shirt is not merchandised by either retailer, which are both owned by Sears Holdings Corporation.
Sears replied to Rupar’s tweet the same day and said that the item has been removed from their website. In a statement, they announced that it was taken off of the Kmart marketplace as well.

The latest released video this week, shows Ashli walking through the doors & she was never crawling through a broken glass window. The capital police removed barricades & allowed people to enter. I saw this, with my own 2 eyes that very day Trump supporters walked to the Capitol. The Capitol police attacked Trump supporters & that is when the retaliation began. This latest, real video shows that all the crap being promoted, is LIES. Only Antifa & BLM stormed the Capitol. Not a single one of them have been arrested because, they have black privilege. It is a hate crime, as the police officer had zero reason to shoot her. Every entity involved in her death has lied & covered up the hate crime. The guy with the horns is a member of Antifa . I have a picture of him standing outside the Capital with Nancy Pelosi’s son. I also have a picture of him posing in the Capital with the Media taking pictures of him. Several people are standing behind him. You may be able to find the pictures on social media. I found them on Parler before it was shut down by Big Tech.
The guys with the horns is not a member of Antifa and where was the picture of him and pelosi’s son taken, not at the Capital. The Antifa people were the ones not dressed for the weather like Trumpers were. Um, excuse me but the story is about Sears and Kmart … so why do you have a picture of a Walmart sign? I’d run out and buy one of those shirts if either were still open around me.
Sears was wrong to give into these pukes. There are plenty of us out that disagree with your decision. We have purchasing power to, I would venture to say more than these losers.

While I believe that Ashli Babbit was most likely misinformed about what led to her doing wrong, she most certainly did not deserve to be shot to death for illegally entering a public building. There were so many other ways to handle the situation than to just murder someone.
She was a patriot, and her life proves that out. Ashli Babbit was an American patriot who wound up in a wrong situation. We can’t take away her patriotism.
