Jada and Will Smith’s private life made headlines this summer when singer August Alsina told an interviewer that he had a years-long affair with Jada. Now he’s released a single titled ‘Entanglement’ to publicly clap back at the way Jada described their relationship in a Red Table Talk with Will.
Alsina thrust the Smith’s partnership into the spotlight, when he claimed they had an open marriage while doing press for his new album at the end of June. In the interview, Alsina told The Breakfast Club host Angela Yee, that he gave the relationship with Jada “years of my life.” Then shockingly went on to say, “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation… He gave me his blessing.”
Will and Jada addressed Alsina’s claims as a united front in an episode of her Facebook Watch series on July 10. The 48-year-old actress explained that she and Will were separated at the time of her “entanglement with August,” which started out with then 23-year-old Alsina, “just needing some help.”
At one point, Will, who appeared forlorn in the video, asked Jada to explain what ‘entanglement’ meant. She answered, “It was a relationship.” Will echoed that they were split up during that time, stating, “I was done with your ass.” Jada also set the record straight about Will giving her permission to pursue the entanglement. “The only person that can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself.”
The Smith’s effectively took back their story’s narrative when the episode shattered Facebook records with 15 million views in a 24-hour period. Alsina clapped back on twitter and reinforced his earlier statements in a second interview, but it was rapper 50 Cent who got a rise out of Will when he privately messaged him on Instagram.
50 Cent crossed a line with Smith when he wrote, “Then she said only SHE can give permission for somebody to blow her back out.” A pissed off Smith responded, “F— you 50.” The rapper then posted the private thread publicly on Instagram.

In his new song, aptly titled Entanglements, Alsina jabbed at Smith with the lyrics, “That ain’t my girl, but I got the key to the crib and the car.” He also went after Jada with the lyric, “You left your man just to f— with me and break his heart.”
