Britney Spears’ estranged father Jamie Spears wants her estate to continue to pay his legal fees despite having been suspended as her conservator in September.

Jamie filed legal documents in court to get the “Gimme More” singer to cough up cash to pay the attorneys he has “participating in proceedings concerning Jamie’s ongoing fiduciary duties relating to winding up” his role in her 13 year conservatorship.

The filing argues that it would be “contrary to public policy” to subject Jamie to bankruptcy to “defend baseless claims” for his conduct during the conservatorship.

“Prompt payment on account of Jamie’s attorneys’ fees is necessary to ensure the Conservatorship can be wound up quickly and efficiently to allow Britney to take control of her life as she and Jamie desire,” the petition states.

During her time under Jamie’s total control, Britney was forced to pay for his legal fees, including lawyers that charged $1,200 an hour. During the battle to free herself from the conservatorship, which she successfully did in November, Britney had to pay for attorney’s on both sides of the aisle.

“Mr. Spears reaped many millions of dollars from Britney as a conservator, while paying his lawyers millions more, all from Britney’s work and hard-earned money,” Britney’s attorney Matthew Rosengart said Monday. “The conservatorship has been terminated and Mr. Spears was suspended ignominiously.”

“Under the circumstances, his petition is not only legally meritless, it is an abomination. Britney poignantly testified about the pain her father caused her and this only adds to it,” he continued.  “This is not what a father who loves his daughter does.”

According to a new report, Jamie cut a deal with Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group days before Britney was put under a conservatorship. He secured a $40,000 loan from the company prior to petitioning a judge to pay him to control her conservatorship.

After he was put in charge of her life and finances, Tri Star was hired to manage her estate and earned 5% of Britney’s “adjusted gross entertainment revenue,” for the duration of the conservatorship. Jamie racked in $6 million for his court appointed role.
