Jerry Maguire actress Kelly Preston has died of breast cancer after a private two-year battle. She was 57.
Famous husband, John Travolta, announced the devastating news on his Instagram page. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.” The post went on to thank her medical team at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, as well as the friends and family that remained at her side. “Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered.”
Travolta announced that he would be taking time away from the spotlight to support his children through the loss of their mother.

According to People, Preston and Travolta have been married since 1991. He proposed on New Year’s Eve of the same year with a six-carat diamond ring at the Palace Hotel in Switzerland. They welcomed eldest son Jett in 1992 and daughter Eva in 2000. Their youngest Ben will turn 10 in November.
Preston found acting success in the eighties, appearing alongside Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1988 brother comedy, Twins. In her most iconic roll, Preston delivered a memorable punch when she brutally dumped fiancé Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Her last film Off the Rails, a road trip comedy about four friends in their fifties, is still in post-production.
Preston’s death is not the first for Travolta’s brood. Eldest son Jett, who suffered Kawasaki disease, a seizure condition, and autism, died in 2009. The family was on vacation in the Bahamas when sixteen-year-old Jett had a seizure and hit his head on the bathtub.
Preston’s last Instagram post wished Travolta a happy Father’s Day.
