“Orange Is The New Black” star and transgender activist Laverne Cox says conservatives are “weaponizing culture wars” to target trans youth.
“What they’re trying to do is to dehumanize these children, which is so heartbreaking,” Cox said in a recent interview. “It’s really heartbreaking when you see the way they’re talking, the fervor with which they’re going after these children. In the face of that, we have to insist on the humanity of everyone. Insist on the humanity of trans people, and particularly the humanity of trans children.”
She’s “deeply concerned” that conservatives are trying to pass bills to restrict doctors from performing gender confirmation surgery on children and prevent biological males from competing in women’s sports. “It’s no accident that 35 states have introduced over 100 bills targeting trans kids and gender-affirming health care for trans youth. They’ve been so organized,” she remarked.
Cox believes the government should stay out of trans health care decisions. “Every reputable health organization in the United States and globally has said that gender-affirming care is life-saving for trans youth,” Cox continued. “That’s the science. Those decisions should always be made between a parent, their doctor, and the child itself. The government should not have anything to do with what anybody is doing with their body.”
She says that “conservatives were very frustrated when marriage quality became the law of the land,” which has prompted anti-trans bills. “When that decision came down, they were like, ‘OK, what can we do to fearmonger? What can we do to divide people on cultural issues?'” Cox claimed.
“The conservative party doesn’t have an economic message for working-class people, so they are weaponizing cultural wars. They’re talking about Dr. Seuss and transgender children playing sports when there’s still a global pandemic and people have lost their jobs,” she concluded. “Instead of having messaging around that, they’re trying to use trans people and cultural wars to gin up sort of this sort of outrage. It’s just cynical.”

Humans do not develop their frontal cortex until about age 25 and are not capable of making rational decisions until their 20’s and shouldn’t be burning bridges permanently as children.

I don’t understand where these people get their information from. Children don’t know anything about trans except what people tell them. Why can’t the children learn these things for themselves which in reality when they are older then they will understand and beable to make their own decisions about it.

The inconvenient truth is that the vast majority of kids who suffer from gender dysphasia work through it, by young adulthood choosing to remain the gender they were born. Coupled with the fact that the human brain isn’t fully developed until the age of 25, you have a solid scientific argument against the use of puberty blocking hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgery in this population.
Once you throw in the fact that suicide rates remain about the same regardless of having the surgery or not, as well as the number of adults who regret having gender reassignment surgery, you have a compelling rational argument against promoting this extreme intervention in children.
Lying to our children is not a sign of tolerance or love, rather it is cruel and irresponsible.

Science deals with FACTS, and the facts are that 80% of children who are confused about their gender straighten out when they hit puberty; and 40% of “trans” people deal with suicide. To accomodate an extremely small percentage of kids they are destroying girls and women’s sports by allowing boys who think they’re girls compete against girls and woman. People are generally and massively just not watching sports at all anymore. For me, it’s not that I am sacrificing some passing entertainment, I genuinly don’t want to watch sports anymore. The NBA is down over 50% in the past two years. People are just tuning out.
