A new report hypothesizes that Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie is the mysterious plaintiff in a lawsuit filed against the FBI.

A woman only identified as Jane Doe alleges that the agency violated the Freedom of Information Act by denying her request for records pertaining to an investigation into an “incident of domestic violence” on a private plane that involved her family.

The filing states that “several years ago,” while she and her “then-husband” were traveling on a private aircraft with their minor children, he “physically and verbally assaulted” the plaintiff and her children, who have “experienced lasting physical and mental trauma as a result.”

She alleges that the FBI opened an investigation, but “publicly announced” it was shutting down the inquiry without further investigation. Jane Doe has filed “several FOIA requests” to obtain the records “necessary for her children to receive medical care and trauma counseling,” but has been stonewalled by the agency.

Politico first speculated that the suit tracks “closely with accusations” Jolie leveled against Brad Pitt when she filed for divorce in 2016.

Pitt was investigated by the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services for child abuse after allegedly getting into a physical fight with the couple’s eldest son Maddox, who tried to defend Jolie while she was arguing with the “Fight Club” star, who was reportedly drunk at the time.

Jolie immediately filed for divorce and petitioned the court for full custody of their six children. Pitt was cleared of all charges months later. The former couple are still embroiled in a nasty custody battle that has dragged on for years.

“I’m not the kind of person who makes decisions like the decisions I had to make lightly. It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children,” Jolie said in 2021.
