Monday Update: Former Child Star Charged With Child Endangerment, Bill Maher Blasts Biden’s Free College Plan, ‘Gone Girl’ Actress In Critical Condition After Hit And Run

Nickelodeon Nightmare

Former child star Drake Bell, of the Nickelodeon, hit kids show “Drake & Josh,” pleaded not guilty to attempted endangerment of children after being arrested in Ohio last week.  

Bell, 34, was also charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles in relation to an internet chat with a minor child in December of 2017. After his Thursday arraignment, he went free on $2,500 personal bond, under orders to make no contact with his alleged victim. His pre-trial hearing is scheduled for June 23.

Blasting Biden

HBO’s Bill Maher rips Biden’s education plan in his opening monologue Friday. “President Biden’s American Families Plan asks the taxpayers to pony up hundreds of billions so that everyone can go to college, and billions more for subsidized childcare so our kids can go to school while we go to school,” Maher stated.  

“I know free college is a left-wing thing but is it really liberal for someone who doesn’t go to college and makes less money to pay for people who do go and make more?” He went on. “Why is China kicking our ass? Because in 2019, we issued more undergrad degrees in visual and performing arts than in computer and information science or math.”

Maher also took a jab at Lori Loughlin for bribing her daughter’s way into USC and getting convicted in Operation Varsity Blues.   

“Say what you want about Lori Laughlin. At least she understood that one good scam deserves another. In the immortal words of her daughter, Olivia Jade, ‘I don’t know how much school I’m going to attend … but I do want the experience of, like, game days and partying,’” he snarked. “Yeah, I’m not f***ing paying for that.”

Hit and Run

“Gone Girl” actress Lisa Banes is in critical condition after being hit by a motorized scooter while she was crossing a street in New York City. The driver of the vehicle allegedly sped away after the incident.  

She was hospitalized with severe head trauma and remains in critical condition. “We have several days ahead of us to pray for Lisa,” Banes’ wife Kathryn Kranhold commented. “If anyone has any information about the scooter driver, we ask them to please call police.”   

Fight Night

YouTuber Logan Paul survived eight rounds in the ring with 50-0 retired professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Sunday night.  The exhibition was not scored, but Mayweather beat Logan on power and total shots.  

“You’ve got to realize I’m not 21 anymore but it’s good,” Mayweather commented after their bout. “He’s better than I thought he was. Good little work. Tonight was a fun night.”

Paul was just happy to live to tell the tale. “Shoot, man, I don’t want anyone to tell me anything is impossible ever again,” he said. “To get in here with one of the greatest boxers of all time, proves that the odds could be beat.”

Royal Baby

Despite tension between Buckingham Palace and Prince Harry over his and Meghan Markle’s public accusations of racism and emotional abuse against the royals, the family still offered their well wishes when the pairs’ baby girl was born on Friday.

Lillibet Diana, named after the Queen and Princess Diana respectively, was publicly welcomed to the family in a statement. “The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” a spokesperson said.
