Embattled television host Nick Cannon has pledged his allegiance to Kanye West’s 2020 presidential campaign, “I love it!”
The Masked Singer host confirmed that he would vote for Kanye if he makes the ballot. “We need another black man in power,” Cannon told TMZ, when paparazzi caught up with him at Los Angeles International Airport.
Cannon recently made headlines for anti-Sematic comments on his podcast Cannon’s Class. During the June 30 episode he interviewed rapper Richard Griffin about his 1989 dismissal from the rap group, Public Enemy, for saying “Jews are wicked.”
During the podcast, Griffin asserted that he is hated for his past remarks and Cannon replied, “There’s no reason to be scared of anything when you’re speaking the truth.”
He has since been dismissed from executive producing and hosting MTV show Wild ‘N Out, but retained his job on Fox’s The Masked Singer. When asked about cancel culture, Cannon replied, “It shouldn’t be cancel culture, it should be counsel culture.”
Cannon is the latest celebrity to support West’s presidential candidacy, joining the ranks of outliers Elon Musk, Chance the Rapper, Ty Dolla $ign, and Rose McGowan.
Plenty of other stars are baffled about his run for office. Here are the best responses:
Comedian Anthony Anderson took shots at West while guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Yeezy wants to be Preezy,” he said during his opening monologue. “This would be historic because, while this country has had a Black president, we’ve never had a crazy Black president.”
