The prosecutor in the Bill Cosby rape case has now taken his cause to the highest court in the land: the US Supreme court.

As The New York Post reports:

Pennsylvania prosecutors Monday asked the US Supreme Court to review Bill Cosby’s overturned conviction – in a longshot bid to resurrect the case against the reviled former actor once known as “America’s Dad.”

Cosby should not have lifetime immunity against prosecution because of a supposed behind-the-scenes agreement that’s only backed up in writing by a press release, said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele in a petition filed with the nation’s highest court.

That controversial no-prosecution deal led Pennsylvania’s top court in June to toss out Cosby’s sex-assault conviction.

“This decision as it stands will have far-reaching negative consequences beyond Montgomery County and Pennsylvania,” Steele said of the ruling that set Cosby free. “The U.S. Supreme Court can right what we believe is a grievous wrong.”

Cosby was released from prison in June of this year after the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania overturned his previous conviction.
