Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz spoke outside of Britney Spears’ latest court hearing on Wednesday, as the singer continues her campaign to get her father Jamie Spears removed from her conservatorship.

“I’m here to get rid of my dad and charge him with conservatorship abuse,” Spears told a judge about Jamie. “I thought they were trying to kill me… If this is not abuse, I don’t know what is… I want to press charges against my father today, I want an investigation into my dad.”

Gaetz, who has been a vocal supporter of the singer’s plight since March, had choice words about her father. “There’s a lot that still divides us but one thing we call all agree on is that Jamie Spears is a d**k.”

“He should not be making any more decisions regarding his daughter, she is nearly 40 years old she should make her own decisions,” he told fans gathered in front of the courthouse. “This case should open our eyes to the broader abuse that occurs in this system to the millions of Americans impacted… Britney has a chance because we all love her and we care about her.”

Gaetz is working on federal conservatorship legislation to help combat the abuses that can happen under the current system.

“The whole world knows what Britney Spears wants, and it is the freedom and the liberty that should be offered to every single American,” he continued. “Free Britney and the millions of Americans who are impacted by a corrupt guardianship system that empowers people to take advantage of the weak. That’s what we stand for, and that should unite all Americans.”

Gaetz recently invited the “Toxic” singer to testify before congress. “The momentum that Britney Spears’ case has generated…should be seized for broader reform,” he remarked.

I personally think to much was made about this. Something isn’t kosher as one could say. As a celebrity she was able to get all this publicity but an average person wouldn’t and Matt although had good intentions but ulterior motives ???

Thinking the exact same thing. Just because of the notoriety of the name they got attention & help whereas the average American Citizen with the same problem would be suffering on their own.
