Rapper A$AP Rocky posted $550,000 bail on Wednesday, after he was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for assault with a deadly weapon earlier the same day.
Rocky and his pregnant superstar girlfriend Rihanna flew home to Los Angeles from a getaway in the “Umbrella” singer’s native Barbados on Wednesday morning, but police officers were waiting for their private jet’s arrival at the terminal, and took him out of the airport in handcuffs.
The “Praise the Lord” rapper was arrested in connection with a shooting in Hollywood on November 6, 2021, when Rocky allegedly got into a disagreement with an acquaintance and shot him in the hand.
“The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim,” the LAPD said in a statement. “The victim sustained a minor injury from the incident and later sought his medical treatment.”
“Following the shooting, the suspect and two additional males fled the area on foot,” the post continued. “Detectives worked diligently to investigate and corroborate the reporting information which helped identify the suspect(s) involved.”
The police named Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, as the shooter, and charged him for assault with a deadly weapon.

The LAPD reportedly carried out a search of the rapper’s home at the same time as his arrest. A group of officers broke down his front gate with a battering ram and searched the house for hours, before leaving with a box of potential evidence before noon.
The “Wave Gods” artist was released on $550,000 bail by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and his case will be presented directly by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for “filing consideration.”
