Actor Anthony Rapp and another male victim are suing disgraced actor Kevin Spacey for allegedly sexually assaulting them on separate occasions when they were both 14 years old.
Rapp, who currently appears on Star Trek Discovery, was the first of many to accuse Spacey of sexual misconduct in 2017, which eventually led to the Netflix star’s firing from wildly popular House of Cards.
In the lawsuit, Rapp says he met Spacey while performing on Broadway when he was just 14 and the older actor invited him to a party at his Manhattan home. Court documents allege that Spacey, “intentionally and voluntarily and without plaintiff’s consent engaged in an unwanted sexual advance with a 14-year-old.”
The Rent star claims Spacey grabbed him by the buttocks, lifted him onto a bed, and laid on top of his body. The young actor fled to the bathroom in fear, then left the apartment as Spacey tried to convince him to stay.
A second plaintiff in the suit, only identified by the initials C.D., met Spacey at 12 when he was a student in the Usual Suspects star’s acting class in 1981. Two years later at age 14, the boy engaged in sexual acts with the adult actor in Spacey’s home.
Their liaison ended when Spacey “attempted to anally sodomize the plaintiff,” which the boy protested multiple times. According to the suit, despite Spacey’s pursuit, C.D. “was able to free himself … and fled the defendant’s apartment.”
Both accusers, who are suing for endured emotional damage, filed their cases under New York’s Child Victims Act, which allows lawsuits to be filed against sexual abusers outside of the state’s normal statute of limitations. They are suing for unspecified damages.
Spacey dodged a criminal case, when the 18-year-old busboy who accused him of sexual assault in 2016 refused to speak in court. He settled another lawsuit last year when his accuser, an anonymous massage therapist who Spacey was accused of attacking, died and his estate agreed to dismiss the case.
Rapp’s lawyers called Spacey a pedophile. “Kevin Spacey knew what he was doing. His conduct was designed to lure children into improper sexual conduct.”
