We’re tracking the conservative culture clash with woke Hollywood hypocrites to keep you up to date on who’s winning and who we hate.
Here’s what happened today:
Hong Kong-based action star Jackie Chan is turning his back on his homeland and democracy to embrace the Chinese Communist Party, despite Hong Kong’s public struggle to remain independent of China.
Chan attended a Beijing symposium on July 8, celebrating 100 years of the Chinese Communist Party, and acted in a play that commemorated the party’s founding. At the event, Chan said wanted to join their ranks.
“I’m jealous that you are CCP members. The CCP is really great,” he said. “The CCP’s promises don’t take 100 years, they are fulfilled in decades. I want to become a CCP member.”
“CBS This Morning” host Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey’s bestie, said she wouldn’t allow unvaccinated members of her own family to attend a holiday vacation unless they got the jab, as Dr. Anthony Fauci was trying to justify the Biden administration’s new door-to-door inoculation strategy in the mainstream media.
“When you get down to now a core, lesser group, you’ve got to go one on one, and that’s really what the president was talking about — about trying to get some of these advisers, not federal officials but community people, to go out there and try and convince people why it’s so important for their own health, for that of their family, and for that of the community to go out and get vaccinated,” Fauci said in the interview.
King wholeheartedly cosigns the White House’s plan. “Dr. Fauci, I don’t know many more times you can say to people, ‘Listen, it will save your life,’” She commiserated. “I have this problem with some members of my own family, which I’m now going to ban for Thanksgiving vacation. That’s how strongly I’m taking what you’re saying.”
Watch the interview:
Borat star Sasha Baron Cohen is suing a Massachusetts-based cannabis company for using his likeness on a billboard ad promoting their products.
Solar Therapeutics is on the hook for copyright infringement and false advertising for putting a Borat lookalike holding both thumbs up next to the character’s tagline, “It’s nice!”
“By use of the billboard, the defendants falsely have conveyed to the public that Mr. Baron Cohen has endorsed their products and is affiliated with their business,” the complaint states. “To the contrary, Mr. Baron Cohen never has used cannabis in his life. He never would participate in an advertising campaign for cannabis, for any amount of money.”
The billboard was taken down three days after the company was slapped with a cease-and-desist order. The actor is seeking a minimum of $9 million and a court order that prevents the dispensary from ever using his likeness again.
Night Court actor Charlie Robinson, who played the court clerk for most of this show’s run, died of cancer complications at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The 75-year-old actor suffered from metastatic adenocarcinoma and passed from cardiac arrest coupled with multisystem organ failure.
During his fifty-year acting career, Robinson appeared in the films Apocalypse Now, Antwone Fisher, Set It Off, and worked on TV shows Home Improvement, House, How I Met Your Mother, My Name Is Earl, 30 Rock and This Is Us amongst others.
Peaky Blinders star Toby Kirkup died last summer at the age of 48, when he was sent home from the hospital after experiencing chest pain. English court documents revealed that he was diagnosed with a stomach condition called gastritis by the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, but died from cardiac arrest after he was discharged.
His family requested a coroner examine his body and questioned the medical care he received from the hospital. A second court hearing will take place on Sept. 30.
Five years after her death, golden age Hollywood film star Zsa Zsa Gabor was laid to rest in a Hungarian burial site by her ninth and final husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt.
“She was first class, she had her own seat and she had her passport, everything there. It was her last trip, she always used to go first class, she had her Champagne, caviar,” von Anhalt said.
As was dictated in her will, three-quarters of her ashes were laid to rest in her native Budapest in a “celebration of life” ceremony that included a gypsy band and yellow and pink roses. She was interned amongst other great Hungarian actors, poets, and writers. The other quarter of her ashes remains in Los Angeles.
After lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III resigned from his position following Britney Spears explosive testimony about the abuses she has endured throughout her conservatorship, the pop star sought new representation.
Spears went after A-list attorney Mathew Rosengart, who has worked with the likes of Hollywood heavy-hitters Ben Affleck, Steven Spielberg, and Sean Penn. The former federal prosecutor agreed to take her on as a client if the judge appoints him to her case.
Transgender actor Mj Rodriguez, who identifies as a woman after a gender transition, became the first trans woman to ever be nominated for an Emmy in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.
Rodriguez was nominated for her work in Pose, which chronicles the New York City drag scene throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
She is the first trans woman nominated for Lead Actress, not the first to receive an Emmy nod. Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox was the first to be nominated in any acting category in 2015.
