Band Puts Ivanka Trump on Cover of Album Called ‘Complicit’

First daughter Ivanka Trump has the dubious honor of gracing the cover of British punk rock band Gang of Four’s latest musical offering. But the new album, with a launch date of April 20, is not meant as a tribute to Trump — who once confessed to emerging from a “punk phase” about two decades ago.

According to web music mag Pitchfork, “Complicit” represents the band’s social critique of Trump as being part of the moral problem that her father has created as president.

In describing his motivation for producing an album “dedicated” to Ivanka Trump, Gang of Four leader Andy Gill told Pitchfork that the band was trying to make some social commentary on “the media” in society today.

“When we think of ‘the media,’ everyone has lots of ideas about what we mean. It could be social media, where hundreds of memes crisscross the world; informing, misinforming, beginning or reinforcing ideas that may last a lifetime and beyond,” he said, suggesting the social media is advancing “ideas about Jews, Muslims, or, say, the World Trade Center or perhaps, the criminality of certain American politicians.”
