Brett Favre Compares Colin Kaepernick To Fallen US Military Icon Pat Tillman, Claims He’s A ‘Hero’

Wikimedia Commons, By Paul Cutler

Former superstar NFL quarterback Brett Favre compared anti-Trump, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, best known for kneeling during the US national anthem, to fallen military hero Pat Tillman on Sunday.

Favre went on the claim that Kaepernick was, in fact, a ‘hero.’

As The Hill reports:

Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre on Sunday said that former NFL quarterback-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick should be given “hero status” like former NFL star Pat Tillman, who was killed in action in Afghanistan after leaving football to join the Army following 9/11.

“I can only think of — right off the top of my head — Pat Tillman’s another guy who did something similar, and we regard him as a hero,” Favre said while speaking with TMZ Sports. “So I’d assume that hero status will be stamped with Kaepernick as well.”

Tillman, who died at age 27 in 2004 after joining the Army Rangers in 2002, had turned down a $3.6 million contract offer from the Arizona Cardinals in order to enlist.

Kaepernick, 32, who once guided the 49ers to the Super Bowl, began kneeling during the national anthem during the 2016 NFL season to protest racial injustice in the United States. He has not played in the league since the end of that season.

Brett Favre has taken one hit to the head one time too many. To even think of comparing Pat Tillman to an American hating anthem kneeling idiot is obscene and outrageous. Why can’t these people just do what they’re paid for and leave politics off the field? If Colin and his other anthem kneeling buddies are so bent out of shape over political issues let them run for political office and try to make changes.

I agree with you totally . Bret Favre is a total idiot and he just proved it . You can’t compare a losing pos to a man that gave his life for his country . He drank more than Kool aid .

Brett clarified his remarks: I want to be clear that including Pat Tillman’s name in the recent interview on Colin Kaepernick was not a comparison of the two, but a recognition that they both sidelined their football dreams in pursuit of a cause. Pat tragically lost his life, making the ultimate sacrifice, and that will never be diminished and deserves the highest honor.

Never did think Brett was too bright. Now I’m sure of it. Pat Tillman gave his life for his country. Krapperdinck quit his job for his country, and plays poor, poor pitiful me to the buffoons that will listen. The two have as much in common as CNN and the truth.

Tillman died for the flag, Kaepernick knelt for it, kind of a big difference but hey Brett wants to be in the good graces. Also, teams would have been able to use Tillman’s talent as a safety, no one needed an inaccurate starting QB who thought he was worth more than $15MM a year and was only offered $5MM to compete for a starting job. Someone go ahead and sign Kap, give him a big contract, roll the dice, see what happens.

Pretty sad. Bret was never the sharpest knife in the drawer, remember he photographed his unit and sent the picture to his NY hottie, so one can’t be surprised that he made this bone head comment.

Anything I see on TV from now on with Favre supporting it or working in an advertising capacity will be off limits for me I f he wants to equate Kapernicks action with Tillman he should have gone to pat and said he would stand in front of him and that would qualify him to make a different comparison what a Dick head !!!!!!!

To compare Kaepernick’s idiocy to the hero, Tillman, is insanity. To be honest I cheered Kaepernick when I was a 49er fan. I had no problem with his blackness ( and stop saying “African American” unless the person is born in Africa. My ancestry is from Germany but I am not a “German American.”)

I totally disagree. Serving your country in the military should not be compared to Colin’s black rights protest. This is a disgusting statement by a quarterback I thought highly of. Being paid what they are in the NFL should not put them on a pedestal to idealize their political views. I feel it is an insult to Military members.

Based on my reading of the comments to this point, it is 100 percent that :
1. Favre is an idiot
2. Kaepernick is a POS
3. The NFL is a waste of time which no longer has any interest from normal people
4. To soil Pat Tillman’s REAL HERO status with Kaepernick is traitorous
5. Never going to watch that trash again.
I agree with EVERYBODY and EVERY COMMENT.

A hero??????
Favre just disgraced every military member who has proudly and honorably served in the U.S. military.
And he has dishonored the memory of those who sacrificed their life for this increasingly dysfunctional and totally out of order country known as the United States.
favre, who knows nothing about serving in the military, should keep his mouth shut.

( CHeck FBI stats) Yet……….this weekend, Father’s Day Weekend, 121 people were shot in Chicago…….18 to death, by BLACKS.. B on B crime……..which is the real tragedy, but these liars and frauds spin a lie………which you, like a trained seal, applaud and clap for.

Kaepernick had only one good year and never lived up to the hype. He was on his way out and he knew it. He started to kneel to get his name out there. How hard is it to go to your job and make a political statement while your getting paid? What was he doing on his own time? Nothing! Brett thought it was a good idea to take a picture of his “junk”, so clearly his brain is working correctly. Maybe to many hits to the head. Kaepernick is a POS. Pat Tillman is an American Hero!!!!!!

When I saw Favre backtrack his first statement, it was a disappointment. But when he compared Kaep to Pat Tillman it just infuriated me. How dare he speak Pat Tillman’s name in the same vein as this loudmouth jerk. Pat Tillman was a hero who left the NFL to fight for his country. Kaepernick left the NFL because he couldn’t land a contract, after stirring bad feelings across the country. He’s still alive Pat Tillman isn’t. Kaepernick cause was a worthy one to fight for, but the way he fought it was WRONG. Ask yourself, how many employers would have kept an employee that interrupted his work and the work of others, enraging their customer base to demonstrate social issues? None. Favre take a reality check.

Is Bret Favre for real. Copaernik(sp) is a traitor to the NFL – certainly not worthy of his brothers in football most of whom exhibit some kind of integrity. Where is his patriotism. If he doesn’t like this country let him go to North Korea and see how he fares there!
