O’Reilly: Trump Jr. Just ‘Dumb,’ Not Treasonous

A 2016 Trump Tower meeting between President Donald Trump’s eldest son and a Russian lawyer was “dumb,” but not “treasonous” as Steve Bannon reportedly described it, according to Bill O’Reilly.

In an interview Wednesday with John Bachman on Newsmax TV, the political commentator, author, and former veteran Fox News anchor said the forthcoming book by writer Michael Wolff, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” will at the worst set off some short-term “sniping” between the president and his former White House strategist.

“Donald Trump Jr. takes a meeting with some Russian people – he’s not really sure who they are – he goes up in the Trump Tower, and they sit there because he thinks it’s going to get dirt on Hillary Clinton,” O’Reilly said. “There is no dirt, the meeting lasts 20 minutes and everybody leaves. Is this a big felony? Not to me.”

“Is it smart that Donald Trump Jr. went there without an attorney? No, and that’s the point that Steve Bannon makes, and it’s a good point,” he added.
