Roseanne Barr’s TV Character Will Be a Trump Supporter

Roseanne Barr told reporters gathered for Monday’s Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour event that her namesake character on the forthcoming revival of “Roseanne” is a supporter of President Donald Trump, much like herself.

During a Q&A portion of the event, Barr explained to reporters that it just makes “sense” for her character, Roseanne Conner, to be a Trump supporter, as the show is based on the life of an average, working-class American family.

“It’s just realistic,” Barr said, adding that she’s always “attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and working-class people.”

“It was working-class people that elected Trump so I felt that was very real and something that needed to be discussed, and especially about polarization in the family and people actually hating other people for the way they voted, which I feel is not American,” the entertainer explained.
