The first daughter and Advisor to the President, Ivanka Trump joined President Donald Trump in a teleconference call with two female astronauts participating in the first all-female spacewalk outside of the International Space Station praising both of them as “very brave, brilliant women.”

Sitting next to the president as he congratulated NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch, Ivanka donned a colorful plaid midi dress by Rosie Assoulin. The elegant long-sleeve dress features eclectic patchwork plaid made of autumn shades of green, yellow and orange, deep scoop neck and accentuated waistline. It retails for $1,895 and is available for purchase at Saks Fifth Avenue.

She paired the colorful dress with dark brown suede pumps and accessorized with gold hoop earrings with a pearl accent.

Ivanka noted that the call from the president marked the first time since 1969 that any president has spoken to astronauts outside a space ship.

“I just want to congratulate you. What you do is incredible. You’re very brave people. I don’t think I want to do it, I must tell you that, but you are amazing people,” Trump told the astronauts. “What you do is really something very special. So, first the Moon, and then we go to Mars. Thank you both very much. Have a good time.”

Meir and Koch began the first all-female spacewalk outside of the International Space Station early Friday morning and is expected to last as long as six hours. Both thanked the president for his words, with Meir honoring female space pioneers who paved the way for their spacewalk.

“This is just the first time that there have been two women outside at the same time,” Meir said during the call. “We recognize that it is a historic achievement, and we do, of course, want to give credit to all of those that came before us. There has been a long line of female scientists, explorers, engineers, and astronauts, and we have followed in their footsteps to get us where we are today.”

Later in the day, Ivanka attended a panel at the IMF/World Bank annual meeting.

The purpose of Ivanka’s speech was to stress the importance of Women’s Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative, the Women Entrepreneurs Opportunity Facility, and the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative, which aims to help 50 million women in the developing world by 2025.

“Investing in women and engaging more women in the workforce is not only the right thing to do, it’s good business,” Ivanka said to the World Bank group in Washington. “Now, more than ever, it is important that we continue to work collectively and use initiatives like W-GDP to ensure women have the opportunity to not only participate but to thrive in our global economy. The private sector is a critical partner in our mission to address barriers to women’s economic empowerment. Whether it be through financial services, technical assistance, mentorship, or beyond — the opportunities for public-private partnership are plentiful.”

In 2017, Trump created a women’s entrepreneurship fund, in collaboration with 13 others countries and the World Bank. The United States contributed $50 million to the program aimed at helping women in countries where they face discrimination get loans and start businesses.

Every woman need a plaid print dress to embrace the fall season. Below are plaid alternatives that one can wear with a pair of neutral pumps for a conservative but sophisticated look.
