Liberal comedian Chelsea Handler caught social media flack for posting that former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin being entitled to his Constitutional right for a fair trial is “pathetic.”
The former late-night host, who is prone to using her social channels to promote Democratic activism, tweeted that it’s “So pathetic that there is a trial to prove that Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd when there is video of him doing so.”
Social media users weren’t having Handler’s casual dismissal of due process. “I saw it too. And now we have a fair trial. Otherwise, we live in Russia. I for one don’t want that,” Author Ian Bremmer sniped. “Worst take I’ve seen on Chauvin trial. And that’s a high bar.”
“How stupid of them to give due process that’s in the constitution. Smh. Bunch of damn communists. Yes, I think he’s guilty but we have due process and the rule of law in this country!” Conservative Arizona Congressional hopeful Josh Barnett wrote.
Another user snarked: “Criticizing due process is a bold move for someone who claims to be in favor of criminal justice reform But hey, Chauvin was white AND a cop, so just hang him I guess.”
“I’m sure it’s been said, but we need the trial or our justice system would be even more chaotic than it already is. The scary thing will be if he is exonerated, even after the trial with the evidence presented.” Another user replied, prompting the comedian to comment.
But Handler wasn’t swayed by and doubled down on her tangent. “Perhaps we skip trials when there is audio and video footage of the murder.”

Chavin will not be indicted there is no evidence. Chavin was doing his job arresting a criminal.

What does the video PROOVE? That he knelt on the man’s neck, yes, that the man pleaded for it to stop, that he could hardly breathe YES. What more do we want, well we want the relevant court to hear the total evidence and watch the video, and decide. Let’s go back in time, everybody was positive that O.J. was guilty. Maybe we should have just taken him out and shot him. Instead, we gave him his Constitutional rights and he got a fair trial. Low and behold, he was found innocent. I have not heard all the evidence in the Chauvin trial, but from what I have heard the forensic examination didn’t show any trauma that would be associated with asphyxiation and he had enough fentanyl and other drugs in his system that could explain the cause of death.
OJ is not a good example. He was guilty but was found innocent due to a perfect storm of fame, money, skilled defense attorneys, and prosocutorial incompetence. While everyone deserves a fair trail, that by no means ensures that they get one.
People are making a logical error when they use Floyd’s criminal history and drug use as an excuse for Chauvin’s improper procedure and a complete indifference to the life of an incapacitated human being. One does not excuse the other; in this case it appears that both may be true, so Chauvin should have to take responsibility for his part. It is a shame that both individuals made poor decisions that day.
The question is, and what this trial is about is did the police officer cause the death of Floyd? The video looked bad, but did he follow the training? Did the hold cause the death?
Why doesn’t anyone talk about Floyd’s resisting arrest? If he would have gone peacefully he would be alive today. Criminals and their families always play the blame game. In this case the family was paid off how many millions were paid to a criminals family? Crime apparently does pay in progressive Socialist Communist Fascist Racist Democrat Party controlled State and City Government.
Whether Floyd resisted arrest or not, has no bearing. Chauvin did not cause his death. That 3X overdose he placed in his anus (hooping) is what caused his death.
Give her a break. She probably hasn’t heard of medical examiners, autopsies and forensic evidence. And besides, she knows a bad guy when she sees one.
Floyd was uncooperative and didn’t follow orders. He is a known felon with a violent past. He also ingested a lethal amount of drugs so as not get caught. He had ample motive not to be caught. Did he deserve to die? No! Would you have fought the cops? For me, no way. When you give up without a fight this never happens. I didn’t say the cops overreacted. Nuff’said.

What I found interesting is that Floyd was complaining that he couldn’t breathe while still in the police vehicle BEFORE he was let back out and made to lie on the ground. The only murder that took place came from the drugs he took of his own free will.
