Liberal co-host of “The View” refuses to give credit to former President Donald Trump for blaming China for originating the COVID-19 outbreak, saying the country was his “scapegoat” and it’s a “lucky break” that he seems to be right over a year later.
The co-hosts of “The View” discussed the origins of the virus on Wednesday’s show, as the Wuhan Lab Leak theory has been gaining traction in the past month, after being dismissed as racist attacks against China when Trump suggested it at the beginning of the pandemic.
Whoopi Goldberg introduced the segment by saying that the theory was “downplayed almost from the start,” before playing a video of Dr. Anthony Fauci announcing that an investigation into the virus’ origins was imperative, even though he softened the likelihood that the coronavirus was man-made.
Goldberg accused the Trump administration of not “letting the science roll out to find out,” and creating doubt in the theory’s credibility. Co-host Sara Haines blamed Trump explicitly in response.
The lab leak theory, “Came out under the former administration and I think the messenger matters,” she remarked. “It was buried in an administration and a former president who often kind of troped in, kind of racist terms and dog whistles, and so it buried the message that could have actually been reasonable.”
Goldberg then went to Behar to ask, “Is it fair to criticize Fauci for not knowing the exact answer when everyone wanted it?”
“No. I mean, you know, this anti-science crowd on the right with the — with Trump has been criticizing Fauci from the giddy-up as if he’s an Oracle of Delphi, instead of a scientist” she responded.
She said that Fauci’s flip-flopping is a result of developing science, but “Trump was blaming the Chinese from the beginning. He was using them as scapegoats,” Behar snarked. “If it happens to be true it was from Wuhan, that was a lucky break on his part because he took a guess, in my opinion.”

Trump probably had intelligence that helped him to decide to stop travel from China and probably had indications the virus came from the Wuhan lab. The CDC and the Fausi were a waste in this pandemic. Maybe Joy should talk about the shortcoming of the CDC and the Fausi that sucks up taxpayer dollars and delivers little. They should have known the cloth masks do nothing. We shouldn’t need outside studies to tell us that fact. Also, the CDC should have analyzed the virus and should be able to tell if it had been manipulated. So far, the Fausi and the CDC are proving we are wasting billions of dollars supporting them.
