Rapper Kanye West, who recently legally changed his name to “Ye,” donned a creepy full face mask to meet up with ex-Trump advisor Michael Cohen in New York City on Tuesday.

Ye has been wearing increasingly odd full face masks as of late, some of which have included religious imagery of Jesus and crucifixes.

The pair were spotted getting drinks at the outdoor terrace of Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar at Loews Regency Hotel on the Upper East Side, while West tried to obscure his identity with a prosthetic caucasian mask during their meeting.

It is unknown why Cohen and West met, but they were reportedly supposed to be joined by New York mayoral candidate Eric Adams, who didn’t make it when he was held up at another meeting.

West didn’t comment on the meeting, but Cohen said Ye was wearing the full face mask to get some privacy from overenthusiastic fans.

“We were just getting together,” Cohen said about the coffee break. “The purpose [of the mask] was so that people would not recognize him … the first 10 minutes we sat down, he was mobbed by people … who wanted photos, and to say hello. So he put on this mask to give him some anonymity, which interestingly enough, did not really work.”

PR CEO Ronn Torossian, who was also at the coffee shop, reportedly overheard the pair discussing real estate. “Kanye was very calm and relaxed with no security,” Torossian said. “He was wearing the mask most of the time and said he was wearing it so he could walk around freely.”

Cohen, who has been on house arrest for tax fraud charges since being released from prison in May 2020 over COVID concerns, was able to take the meeting because he is permitted to leave his home during specified hours and days. He has a month left of the three year sentence that was handed down in December of 2018.
