An American transgender summer Olympian allegedly wrote a social media post about exploding former President Donald Trump’s head last year.
According to journalist Ian Miles Cheong, BMX freestyle rider Chelsea Wolfe shared an inflammatory post on Facebook that read:
“I would never say that someone should explode the head of the president. That would be illegal,” Wolfe wrote. “But I will say ‘with dynamite.’ Because that’s just a sentence fragment and doesn’t actually mean anything. It’s not necessarily related to the sentence that came before it.”
The Olympic alternate’s social media history has recently made headlines, when a March 2020 post that has since been deleted surfaced this week, where she wrote, “My goal is to win the Olympics so I can burn a US flag on the podium.”
Wolfe shared an article about the Trump administration’s policies on biological males competing in women’s sports and commented that “This is what they focus on during a pandemic. Hurting trans children.”
In a statement, Wolfe explained that she does in fact care about the country and one of her primary motivations is showing the rest of the world that the United States has “morals and values.”
“I take a stand against fascism because I care about this country and I’m not going to let it fall into the hands of fascists after so many people have fought and sacrificed to prevent fascism from taking hold abroad,” Wolfe remarked. “As a citizen who wants to be proud of my home country, I’m sure as hell not going to let it take hold here.”
