‘Hunger Games’ Star Saves Dog, Abuser Gets Beat Down From Mob

Actress Jena Malone chased down a man who was horribly abusing a dog, and he got a taste of his own medicine when a mob of men absolutely wrecked him.

“I saw a man kicking repeatedly a small dog on the sunset, yanking him up in the air and absolutely choking the dog. I yelled at him to stop from my car but he wouldn’t. I got out of my car to try and get the dog but he started running,” Malone tweeted on Wednesday.

The “Hunger Games” star “started chasing him,” and signaled others who witnessed the man’s actions to follow her, because “at that point I really didn’t think I was going to be able to get the dog back by myself.”

After running after the man for a block, she looked back to see five men in pursuit, which Malone said “felt like a miracle.” At that point she ran back to her running car, because “I have no business trying to restrain a full grown man,” and drove six blocks to see if the group had caught the abuser.

By that time, the men, who say they were “conducting a citizen’s arrest,” had reportedly beat the man for “nearly a minute” and subdued him.

“I didn’t see the brawl but I was told that the man did not give up the dog without a fight,” Malone explained. The cops came and took the guy. I waited with dog til another cop came to take them to the hospital. The dog was covered in filth and looked like it had been not taken care of for months.”

The dog, a six-year-old Maltipoo named Champion, was taken to the hospital and received treatment for broken ribs and a broken left hind leg. His owner, Kelly McKinney, said that her son was the abuser, and had stolen the dog from her a week ago.

The man was taken into custody and charged with felony Animal Cruelty on Tuesday. No charges were filed against the group that took him down.

“I’m sorry that it ended in a brawl but the dog was going to die. No question. I can’t imagine the level of torture it had suffered until this point,” Malone said. “It was absolutely horrific seeing an animal treated this way.”

A GoFundMe for Champion has raised more than $14,000 to cover the costs of the dog’s surgeries and hospital bills.

Fortunately, there was one black guy in the group of white men beating the black criminal. Otherwise, Al Sharpton is on speed dial.

Gee I’ll be he really feels like a BIG man beating up on a little dog. What a chicken poop. Thank God you were all there to help the poor little thing. I hope he stays in jail a long time. Sickening.
