NBA veteran Jalen Rose criticized Team USA’s selection of Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love for the roster, claiming the move was made so an all-black team wouldn’t be representing the country at the Olympics.
“Kevin Love is on the team because of tokenism,” Rose said. “Don’t be scared to make an all-black team representing the United States of America. I’m disappointed by that.”
On his ESPN show “Jalen and Jacoby,” he noted that “Anybody that watched the league this year knows Kevin Love did not have a stellar season, was not the best player on his team, and did not necessarily deserve to be on this squad.”
Love only played 25 games in the 2020-21 season, and had the lowest average points per game since his rookie season 13 years ago. However, the men’s Olympic team has had a difficult time recruiting NBA all-stars to participate in the Games.
League superstars James Harden and Anthony Davis are out after a season that was unusually plagued with injuries, and famous faces Steph Curry and LeBron James both opted out. Love’s selection seems to be less about white “tokenism,” and more likely due to his stellar record as an NBA champion and five-time All-Star.
Rose’s criticism of Love caused critical backlash on Twitter. “If a white pundit called a black athlete a token, he’d be fired and ESPN would go on a MASSIVE apology tour,” one user tweeted. “This is insanity.”
“I like Jalen,” said podcast host Jason Whitlock. “But, yeah, he ain’t really worried about all-black teams. Wish these guys would shut up or keep it 100.”
“ESPN should be ashamed. Everything there is about race. Topics, promotions, demotions, and rules,” a commenter said about the network. He also pointed out that the U.S. men’s Olympic basketball team was all-black in 2016.

You have to admit those 1st ranked players need to train to be fast to outrun the police trying to arrest them for their crimes, they can slow down now since demonrat police don’t arrest libby snow flake sheep for committing crime .
They did not complain when everybody was forced to hire blacks even if the were not qualified for the position or made special dispensations for them to enter colleges when they did not have the grades to qualify.
