In a truly bizarre altercation, Cleveland Browns’ linebacker Malik McDowell was taken into police custody after stripping down near a children’s learning center.

McDowell, 25, was arrested on Monday in Deerfield Beach, FL after he was caught by police walking in the buff onto the property of a preschool where children were present.

When law enforcement authorities tried to approach him, the 6-foot-6, 290-pound defensive tackle got violent. One officer said he was left “dazed” after McDowell “charged at me … at full speed with [a] closed fist.”

The NFL player was able to flee on foot, before he was tased to the ground. It took multiple officers to keep him down, and they were forced to cuff both his hands and feet to subdue him.

He was taken away by ambulance, and eventually charged with aggravated battery on an officer, resisting arrest and exposing his sex organs in public.

McDowell’s attorney claimed, “Apparently somebody may have slipped him something or given him something he was unaware of, which explains some of his bizarre behavior.”

The Browns, who finished out the season with an abysmal 8-9 record, after a 21-16 win against the Bengals, released a statement about the incident.

“We are aware of the very concerning incident and arrest involving Malik McDowell and are in the process of gathering more information,” the statement said. “We understand the severity of this matter and our thoughts are for the well-being of all involved. We will have no further comment at this time.”

McDowell may no longer be the team’s problem, he’s a free agent after participating in 16 games this season.

The former Michigan State player is no stranger to altercations with the law. He was sentenced to 11 months in prison in late 2019, after pleading guilty to car theft, a DUI, resisting arrest, and assaulting police officers.

He is still on three-year probation resulting from his guilty plea, and was held on $31,000 bond in Broward County Florida.
