PBS PSA
“Sesame Street” launched an initiative to promote COVID-19 vaccination in children as young as five, just days after the USDA authorized emergency use of the Pfizer shot for children ages 5-11.
Characters from the show, including Big Bird, Grover, and Oscar the Grouch, appeared on a CNN town hall titled “The ABC’s of COVID Vaccines,” on Saturday morning, where the network’s chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta answered the character’s questions about the jab.
The official Twitter accounts for the characters posted pro-vaccine messaging the same day.
“I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy,” Big Bird’s account tweeted. “Ms.@EricaRHill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!”
GOP senator Ted Cruz replied that PBS show’s inoculation push was “Government propaganda… for your 5 year old!”

MAGA
Rapper Kanye West said that he’s still a supporter of former president Donald Trump in a recent podcast interview.
“I still got a red hat on today. I’ll let y’all know that,” West commented. “I might not got it on, but I’ll let y’all know where I stand.”
He also slammed the Me Too movement and defended bringing recently canceled musicians Marilyn Manson and DaBaby onstage during the listening party for his new album Donda.
“All the Me Too—like, when I sit next to Marilyn Manson and DaBaby, right after both of them got canceled, for five songs, you know, it’s like they can’t cancel a song,” he remarked. “They’ll hit you with the accusations or somebody who you was with ten years ago.
“It’s power and politics,” West continued. “You know, power-hungry maniacs and just control. This is 1984 mind control we’re in.”
Released
Another Las Vegas Raider was released from the team following head coach Jon Gruden’s exit over insensitive emails and wide receiver Henry Ruggs III DUI arrest last week.
Cornerback Damon Arnette was let go after a troubling video of the 25-year-old threatening to kill someone with a gun in his hand went viral.
General manager Mike Mayock said it was a “very painful decision” to boot the 2020 first-round draft pick. “There have been a series of bad decisions over the last year or so, but we can’t stand, we cannot stand for the video of Damon with a gun, threatening to take a life.”
“The content was unacceptable, contrary to our values and our owner Mark Davis has been very clear and very consistent that this is not how we will conduct ourselves in this community,” he continued. “The bottom line — the Raiders will not tolerate this type of behavior.”
Threatened
Ex-Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos had a threatening message for actor Leonardo DiCaprio after a video surfaced of his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez appearing star-struck as she gazed upon the Oscar winner.
Barstool Sports shared a video of the pair speaking with DiCaprio at a gala in Los Angeles over the weekend, with the caption: “Leo is Mr. Steal Yo Girl.”
Bezos responded to the post with a tweet of his own on Monday. “Leo, come over here, I want to show you something…” he wrote alongside an image of himself leaning on a sign that reads: “DANGER! STEEP CLIFF FATAL DROP.”

Walking Away
Emilio Estevez will not be returning for the second season of the Disney+ series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” but denied reports that his exit was over a refusal to comply with the company’s vaccine policy.
“I am not anti-vaxx. Full stop,” he said in a statement. “I take this pandemic very seriously, and I am often teased about my continued following of the safety protocols and my abundance of caution.”
Estevez did not reveal if he had been vaccinated, but did admit that he had contracted the virus in March of 2020 and had suffered from long-haul symptoms through the rest of the year.
“Simply put, I am anti-bully. My exit from the show was due to a myriad of creative differences – any other narrative is false. To the fans of the franchise – I am as disappointed as you are,” he concluded.
Sued
Rocker Van Morrison is being sued for criticizing Northern Ireland’s health minister Robin Swan over the COVID lockdown measures he implemented in the country.
Morrison encouraged a crowd during a June concert to chant “Robin Swann is very dangerous,” after his upcoming shows were cancelled over the restrictions. When he was asked about the incident Morrison said he didn’t regret pumping up the crowd.
“No, no I don’t regret it. Of course he’s dangerous,” Morrison allegedly said. “He’s a fraud. I believe he’s a fraud. Why should I regret it?”
He repeated the claim in a video on his YouTube channel, when he recalled contacting Swann in 2020 to inquire why live music was banned during the pandemic.
The “Brown Eyed Girl” singer’s lawyer said that “the word used by [Morrison] related to a matter of public interest and constituted fair comment.”
