Illinois Democrat Rep. Sean Casten rapped a rendition of pop star Fergie’s hit ‘Fergalicious,’ as a gimmick to draw attention to legislation relating to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
“I rise to continue our celebration of ‘hot FERC summer.’ As a climate activist, Fergie would certainly say,” Casten began on the House floor next to a poster board of the singer. “The FERC-alicious definition is to make our planet cooler.”
“So listen up ya’ll cuz this is it, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission better known as the ‘F’ to the ‘E’ to the ‘R’ to the ‘C,” he rhymed in a parody of the 2006 song. “Is one of the most important federal agencies to fight climate change and if I’m doing this right, one that a few more of you are now keeping track of.”
“Having a well air-conditioned home when it’s ‘hot, hot,’ that’s FERC-alicious, getting your electricity from the lowest cost reliable source — FERC-alicious — an electric transmission system that keeps everything from electric vehicles to steel mills running with zero-carbon electricity, FERC-alicious,” he continued with the schtick.
Casten was bringing House members’ attention to The Right to Timely Rehearings at FERC Act, which aims to hasten the timeline for the agency to respond to requests for rehearing orders after a 2020 court decision found that delaying appeals was illegal.
“With record-setting heatwaves already causing deadly droughts, wildfires, and overwhelmed power grids, we’ve run out the clock and must transition to a clean energy economy and we need FERC’s help,” he concluded. “Moving at the pace demanded by the climate crisis will take all hands on deck and a fully staffed FERC is going to be critical to that success.

I don’t know if the changing climate is caused by the progressive ideology or not; it would help to have some rock-solid facts rather than opinion. I suggest as example the many “facts” about Covid-19 and how many times the “facts” changed. How much has been spent on “climate change” issues and how much measurable benefit has been realized. If there has been no measurable benefit the theory is wrong and millions wasted. Some have said it is a scheme to make the rich richer.
“Climate change” and “global warming” have always been bullshit. I’ve traced back at least 50 years of their “scientific” predictions. NOT ONE THING they said would happen (giving DATES, if you can imagine the audacity), has ever happened ! They have been 100% WRONG every time ! It’s all about depopulation. Wake up, people. The Dems keep pretending that electrical power is “Carbon Free”, but as an Electrical Engineer, I know that electrical power utilities need to burn fossil fuels or nuclear fuels (which Dems reject) to generate electrical power.
