During his Monday night monologue, Jimmy Kimmel received an unexpected interruption when breaking news surfaced, announcing that ABC had decided to part ways with him. The timing of this revelation coincided with Kimmel’s mention of the terminations of Fox News host Tucker Carlson and CNN’s Don Lemon. Guillermo Rodriguez, Kimmel’s sidekick, humorously delivered the news, playfully advising Kimmel to be mindful of not getting hit by the door on his way out.

The incident has generated significant buzz on the internet, catching many off guard who were unaware of the joke. While Kimmel took the opportunity to mock Tucker Carlson, he should exercise caution, as his previous controversies, such as his blackface sketch, could potentially put him in a precarious position. This is particularly noteworthy given the recent layoffs occurring at ABC, which is owned by Disney.

According to MSN:

“We have some breaking news,” said Guillermo. “After 20 years on the air, ABC TV has decided to part ways with its host, Jimmy Kimmel.” Guillermo added, “On a personal note, I’d like to say to Jimmy, don’t let the door hit you in your ass on the way out.”

Obviously, it was just a hilarious joke that mimicked the real breaking news from earlier that day. Both Carlson and Lemon’s termination came as a surprise to both their colleagues and viewers. And while the networks claimed they were mutual decisions, Kimmel alluded to the fact that Carlson ended his last show on Friday with “We’ll be back on Monday,” being completely unaware that he would be terminated before then.

It is, however, a bit ironic to make fun of Tucker Carlson being let go from Fox News when the ABC network is a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company and is also currently firing employees. So while this was only a funny bit, it should be considered a little too close to home for the staff at ABC.

Disney has already let go several executives at ABC News earlier this month, and with more layoffs coming throughout the week, there could be more staff at the network to be laid off. EPSN has also seen several significant layoffs at the company as well.

The unexpected joke during Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue, where ABC supposedly decided to part ways with him, has created a stir and caught many off guard. While Kimmel used the opportunity to mock Tucker Carlson, he should proceed with caution considering his past controversies that could potentially impact his reputation.

Additionally, it is worth noting that Tucker Carlson, as predicted by Bill O’Reilly, could experience a significant financial gain after leaving Fox News and establishing himself as a popular primetime TV host. While Kimmel may be jesting at Carlson’s expense now, there’s a possibility that Carlson will have the last laugh when he secures a lucrative deal with a new network.
